The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics is the movement’s largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle. Since its inception in 1982, the Torch Run has raised a total of $461 million. At its most basic, the Torch Run is a running event in which officers and athletes carry the Flame of Hope to the opening ceremonies of local Special Olympics competitions and State and National games. By partnering with law enforcement officers, Special Olympics athletes gain more than financial support, the officers also provide friendship, acceptance and encouragement.
The Montville Inn is a stop for the Torch Run along its path down Route 202. Every year, we host the Torch Run planning sessions and then have the participants in for lunch after they’ve completed their run.
