As of August 2016, the Montville Inn would like to welcome Chef Ryan Henry as the new Executive Chef. A native resident of Montville, Henry graduated from Montville High School in 1998 and went on to Johnson and Wales to achieve an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts as well as a Bachelor’s of Science in Hotel & Restaurant Management.
Although Chef Henry has worked in a variety of restaurants over the span of his career, he was employed by The Cheesecake Factory for the past 16 years. During that time, he headed restaurants in Buffalo, Albany and Long Island, as well as the more local Cheesecake Factory location in the Willowbrook Mall.
“What I like about managing the kitchen at the Montville Inn is the diversity of opportunities to do a lot of different things — creating new menu items as well as sharing my experience with both the guests and the staff, but above all, making people happy with the love we put into our food!” says Henry. While he enjoyed working in a corporate environment, working with the Montville Inn has allowed him bring his level of professionalism and kitchen knowledge to new heights.
Everyone agrees that calling Montville home all his life helps, as well. “Every night of the week I come out into the dining room and see familiar faces, whether it’s old classmates from high school, my local bank teller, or my neighbor. Getting the chance to show old friends, family and acquaintances what the Montville Inn is all about is part of what makes this job so rewarding. The close-knit nature of the town is what I’m used to and truly missed while I was working in New York.”
